- Rigid Wedge Shape: The word "Jumelle" means binoculars in French. The camera earned this name because its rigid, slightly tapered wooden body (usually covered in leather) visually resembles a large pair of field glasses.
- No Bellows: Unlike the folding cameras common at the time, this model does not use a leather bellows. This makes the body incredibly durable and completely light-tight.
