Leica IIIf ELCAN Midland Outfit
Very rare and highly attractive Leica IIIf body in almost mint condition. The top plate is engraved “Ernst Leitz Canada Limited, Midland Ontario” and is paired with a matching Midland-made Summarit 1.5/5 cm lens, serial number 1418407.
The lens optics are clean, showing only a few light cleaning marks on the front element, and it is complete with its original front lens cap.
Although more than 5,000 Leica IIIf cameras were produced by ELCAN in Canada, only approximately 200 examples are known to bear the Canadian Midland engraving. Cameras from this very small subgroup are extremely difficult to find, particularly in such well-preserved and attractive condition.
